The opinions expressed here, while probably right and certainly smart, are their own, and are not necessarily reviewed in advance by anyone but the individual author. Sometimes, the author is audacious and decides to post an opinion without a buddy reviewing it, and at other times, he or she may seek counsel of a friend. Regardless, these opinions do not necessarily reflect the view of Intuit or any other person or company. Although, since these people are smart to begin with, Intuit might agree with them - or might not.

Just the FAQs, Ma'am

I revised a few Zipingo FAQs today. Thankfully, more than a few users let me know that a couple of these documents weren't up to par...which was very helpful, let me tell ya!

After reading user feedback and rewriting the corresponding Frequently Asked Questions (Note: Acronym-haters, that was for you...), I had to slap my forehead. What the ***** was I thinking when I wrote some of them?

Oh, yeah. For those of you offended by that last sentence, you'll be glad to know that Zipingo has a vulgarity filter in place. The system either replaces the expletive with asterisks or disallows the post entirely, depending on several settings. Then there are the community members who report someone who managed to slip by the filter. And the Zipingo team members who will ban a repeat offender...

Look, I know I'm not your Mom, but I'll say it anyway. Please be considerate of others in the Zipingo community and refrain from using profanity while rating or posting. It only hurts your online credibility anyway.

I think the filter is hardwired to my brain. When I'm irritated, I can only think in asterisks. Hmmmm.

Now back to that FAQ is one example of a FAQ I needed to rewrite:

Zipingo sign in screen
Question: How do I sign up to use Zipingo?

Answer: Just click on the link to the Zipingo home page and sign up. It's just that easy.

Get a Clue: where's the sign up form, Kim?

Answer (revised): Just go to the Zipingo home page and click on the "Sign In" link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Another option? Find or add a business, start rating and you'll be prompted with the form that allows you to either register or log in.

(Click on the image to enlarge it. Warning! It's a screen shot, not an active page.)

There. (sigh) That's much better...for now.
