Thoughts on Joining the Zipingo Team

Hello. My name is Karen and I've just joined the Zipingo team. I'd love to share with you why I'm so glad to have joined the team and why I really believe in the power of this tool.
Some history...I wish was around, say, 3 years ago. My husband and I had just bought our house and while we thought everything was in tip top shape, this was not the case with our shower. For the life of us, we could not figure out was wrong. So, it was time to call a plumber. Problem was, we didn't have one. We didn't know of one. We asked our family and friends - and either they didn't know one or if they did, didn't have enough of a feel to say whether the plumber was good or bad. Finally, we randomly found one - no references, but we were desperate. Long story short, we hired him thinking he would probably be ok and it was just the opposite. Come to find out, what should have taken no more than a week took five! He was totally unreliable and it just left a really bad taste in our mouths. Needless to say, had we had Zipingo at that time, we could have saved ourselves a lot of angst. Plus, we could have warned others about this guy and hopefully saved them from having a similar experience. So, when the opportunity came up to join the Zipingo team, I felt it was something I could really believe in and jumped at it.

I know it sounds corny, but I'm just excited to be working on a team who is working with the community to make a difference. I've already seen it. Plus, truly, the community is the foundation of the team. And, yes, I had heard the Zipingo team was fun before joining, but I must admit that's an understatement! It's a pretty tight team, totally passionate about Zipingo - and the team lives by the philosophy that users are the ones that will tell us how to build the site - that's the mentality. I love that we get to talk to users everyday who tell us stuff that leaves us saying "wow, what a great idea - I never thought of that". It's pretty powerful.

So, that's it for now…More to come later...

~ Karen
